NASMA encourages individual show managers to include draft mule classes, as added events, where appropriate to accommodate local draft mule enthusiasts. The suggested rules for draft mules will be recommended to show managers for use in those cases.
However, at this time, adding a separate draft mule division to NASMA would unnecessarily alter the identity and structure of our association.
Adding donkey classes & rules to the rule book, some time ago, was, very clearly, in line with the mission of NASMA. It encouraged the breeding and showing of donkeys in halter, riding, & light driving disciplines in NASMA events. Donkeys suited to these disciplines, and being an integral part of saddle mule breeding, have added to and enhanced the quality of saddle mules, as a result of their inclusion in NASMA. A major goal of the association.
